The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) today announced support for NxLite’s new Advanced Innovation & Manufacturing (AIM) Center through the Michigan Strategic Fund. NxLite, a Canada-based clean-tech company providing nano-thin energy and solar control coatings, is locating its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing facility to Canton Township, Wayne County.
The Michigan Strategic Fund awarded NxLite a $1,000,000 Michigan Business Development Program (MBDP) performance-based grant in support of the AIM Center project. The company is expecting to create 39 new jobs with a capital investment of $8,858,746.
NxLite’s AIM Center will house advanced nano-coating production lines capable of applying the company’s proprietary low-emissivity coatings to glass, polycarbonate, and acrylic substrates. The facility will also serve as a materials science research and development center of excellence.
All newly created positions will have starting wages at or above $24 per hour, above the regional median wage. The MEDC’s investment reflects Michigan’s commitment to supporting clean technology innovation and advanced manufacturing growth in the state.
